‘It is so beautiful, so bright, so luminous. One swims in blue air and it is frightening.’ Monet
The French Riviera is relatively compact but it has always attracted notable artists. Cezanne was the first to arrive in the early 1880s followed by Picasso, Monet, Cezanne, and Matisse.
They were inspired by the sparkling blue waters and the delightfully pretty streets. Situated right where the Mediterranean meets the Alps, the French Riviera enjoys a lovely and mild climate all year round.
It is probably fair to say that the area is a catalyst for creativity, the unique light and luminous colours will provide inspiration. Please see the online presentation above for full details.
The Cote d'Azur surely needs no introduction. It is a lovely region to explore, with many less known gems to discover among the more famous.
We are seeking out the areas that attracted artists who came before us and will be heading off in search of the iridescent quality of the region's dazzling light as well as the areas many attractions.
We will find an exquisite kind of timeless beauty where art, architecture and nature exist in harmony together.
We hope you will join us!
We are moving steadily towards pricing our tours as all-inclusive. There is no perfect solution here but perhaps the most critical asset we have is time. Twelve people in a restaurant figuring out how best to split a bill and then queuing up to pay eats up a lot of it. Twice a day plus coffees x 6 adds up to several hours wasted. Therefore we feel it is altogether more efficient to cost the tour to include food, tea, coffee and wine.

The Château de la Napoule is a restored French castle and it is here that we will call home for a week. The C14 fortified chateau was in ruins when the American sculptor, Henry Clews Jr and his wife Marie Clews - a landscape architect - rebuilt it in the early twentieth century.
The Chateau is home to La Napoule Art Foundation and provides residency opportunities for accomplished and emerging artists from around the world. It’s the perfect space for creative minds in any medium. We are very fortunate that we have been able to reserve it in early June for our private workshop there.
Accommodation will either be in the Chateau itself or in the Villa Marguerite within the grounds of the Chateau.
